About The Artist

Saniki Wessels was born in Ermelo in the Mpumalanga province, South Africa.

She received diplomas in Diagnostic Radiography and Radiation Therapy at the University of Pretoria. She met her husband Louis in Pretoria and together they have three adult daughters. After having lived in Johannesburg and Bloemfontein, where she pursued her art studies, they later settled in Somerset West in the Western Cape.

Saniki has been painting oil paintings since she can remember and took her easel, oil paints and brushes everywhere with her into nature. She could often be seen in the midst of a Cosmos flower field in the Eastern Freestate Mountains, whilst her young daughters played peacefully around her. She is inspired by nature and it reflects in a lot of her paintings in mountain, sea and flower scenes.

Saniki had her own gallery in Somerset West. Now she works from her studios in Somerset West and in Betty's Bay where she specialises in oil paintings. She enjoys the creative stimulation of joining other artists and attends regular art classes in Stellenbosch. She also works part-time as a Radiographer at the Somerset West Vergelegen Medi-Clinic hospital. Saniki's oil paintings have been exhibited all over South Africa and lately in Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Somerset West.
